Skull as one of the five Jokers, Gator as Lizard on Villain night for Renegades Comic Con weekend.
Skull: Hello ‘Gades fans, welcome to the Skull and Gator Blog part 4, we got a lot of stuff planned this week, with lots of performances and entertaining activities coming up soon! What are you looking forward to the most Darth Gator?
Gator: Well, if you couldn’t tell by that “creative” nickname, I’m looking forward to Star Wars day on Sunday. You definitely won’t have to “force” me to participate in that. It’s going to be a blast.
S: Certainly. Have a fun time we will. Fans could walk out of here with prizes such as their own Ewok, or even the Millenium Falcon!
G: Why are you lying to the people? Do you really think Han Solo would just give away his ship? He has to go defeat the Empire with Chewbacca and Luke Skywalker.
S: Don’t forget about Princess Leia! All Star Wars fans will not want to miss out on this intergalactic adventure. I have a good feeling about this.
G: Well, if people prefer comic books over Star Wars like you do, Skull, we have two comic book nights as well. One night even dedicated to the most important asset of a comic, the villain. I’m partial to General Zod from Superman; who’s your favorite villain, Skull?
S: You can’t go wrong with The Joker. Talk about a villain with both a good brain and a sinister laugh that just loves to terrorize all of Gotham. But there are so many others to choose from, I am interested to see what villains the fans choose to dress up as.
G: Skull, a note for you: gluing a magnet to your head does not qualify as dressing up as Magneto.
S: And bringing all 20 of your cats with you to the ballpark does not qualify you as Catwoman, Gator. Even if we are playing the Tri-City Valley Cats.
G: With the Valley-Cats coming in, it’s going to be a battle. This is a matchup of the two best teams in the New York-Penn. This is going to be a hard fought few games that are sure to end in fireworks (Saturday!).
S: Well regardless of how well they do, the games will actually end in fireworks. There are only a few fireworks games left so the fans should take advantage of them before the summer ends. But the fireworks could extend into the fall if the Renegades storm into the playoffs!
G: The fireworks are always a great spectacle. Every Friday and Saturday night games are fireworks nights at the Dutch. It’s like a show after the show. Two shows for the price of one! Hopefully we can see some in game fireworks too.
S: Well with the way we’ve been playing recently that almost sounds like a guarantee at this point. Sometimes it gets hard to keep track of how many runs the Renegades are driving in per game. Giving the other team’s pitching staff constant nightmares. The Dutch has not been an easy place to walk away with a win in for opposing teams.
G: The ‘Gades seem to be winning everywhere. They have a ten game division lead on Brooklyn and are close to clinching a playoff spot. They are 20-3 at home and 37-15 overall. That’s a winning percentage of .712. This team is en fuego.
S: More like feuer. For those of you who didn’t know, that is German for fire. And the Renegades will be having their own night of German festivities this Friday, aptly titled Augtoberfest. Its just like Oktoberfest, only in August. So expect lots of lederhosen, pretzels, and beer. It should be a fun night for all German and non Germans alike.
G: I, for one, love German food so you will see me pigging out (or in German, Schwein-ing). I may even put on a pair of lederhosen. It’s going to be a fun day. Those Germans know how to have a fun time so we’ll be modeling this night off of their great tradition.
S: Definitely. With that and all the comic con events going on this weekend, fans will not be disappointed whatsoever with the upcoming homestand. We will certainly be kept busy the whole weekend but it’ll definitely be worth it in order to keep the fans entertained.
G: We’ve had tons of practice throughout the season so we’re ready for whatever is thrown at us. This brigade can handle anything.
S: Certainly, and that wouldn’t be possible without some of our team leaders like Casey and Sean. Keeping us on track while making sure we always have fun out on the field. Certainly have us fully prepared to finish off the rest of the season strong!
